OUR ACTIVITIES

Steung Areng is in thmabang district kohkong province where our coffee farm base, there is an adventure for everyone. The Steung Areng Community-Based Ecotourism Project is located in the heart of the Cardamom Rainforest Landscape and works to protect the surrounding environment by offering an alternative livelihood for the local people through sustainable ecotourism. 

You can enjoy a full range of activities to make the most of the Cardamom Mountains’ spectacular wilderness. Steung Areng’s knowledgeable staff and guides can lead walking treks, as well as mountain biking and motorcycle tours, ranging from a few hours to multiple days. Swimming at watering holes, tours of culturally significant sites, and bird watching are just a taste of some of the spectacular activities included on the treks.

We working with diffent communities where our coffee project base in kohkong province, Osoam in pursat province and Mondulkiri.

All communities we have the same activities for camping, treking and Birds tour. 

Our place are safe and surrounding by nature that you can experience with people in community related to culture and life style especially, you can contribute to community development through agriculture, tourist and protect wildlife.

Some people in Cambodian rural communities hunt wild birds to feed their families. We advocate that live birds are a more valuable and more sustainable resource for these communities than dead birds, as birdwatching is a rapidly growing activity worldwide. 
We therefore encourage people to protect birds instead of hunting them, and intend to generate additional income for people living by our coffee plantations, through guided birdwatching tours in these areas.  We have already found that many interesting and sought-after species live in the nearby forests, and we will build bird hides at selected places.   
Our strategic partner Mr. Christian Doerig-Tan, is a bird specialist with experience in guiding tours; he will train interested people in the communities to recognise local bird species by sight and sound, and thereby enable them to guide birdwachching tours in  their areas.

CHRISTIAN DOERIG
Christian grew up in Switzerland and has been a birder since his teenage years.  He has also lived in the US (Denver and Colorado), Scotland and France, birding all along the journey !  He moved to Melbourne in 2011 to pursue his career in Microbiology research and is internationally recognised for his work.  He is in Australia ten years ago he has spent most of his free time in the bush, getting acquainted with the local birdlife and wildlife, which started with a memorable initiation Firetail birding tour and from which his love for the local avifauna has never faltered !  
Christian has acquired an excellent knowledge of Victoria’s best birding areas and the birds to which they provide a haven.  His enthusiasm is infectious and he has taken many friends and acquaintances over the years to good birding spots to assist them.  
He will be delighted to take you along on your birding tour and can cater for all-comers from beginners wanting to expand their horizons to those with more specific target birds. Christian’s current availability is for short tours of one to three days on weekends, but weekdays can be arranged.

After he married with Cambodia lady, He'd like to contribute and expanse his expertise to develop Cambodia communitie with the birding tuor and Agr-tourism with Agro Agape co,.ltd.
